The Smeg Portofino’s great looks are combined with stunning features, impressive performance and reassuring energy efficiency

Accolades and Awards

The reception for the Portofino has been extremely positive, with various high-profile design awards to prove it, underlining the Smeg brand’s great reputation for stylish kitchen appliances. Their colourful retro “Fab” fridges and iconic “Opera” range cookers are still very much a favourite all around the world, with a timeless appeal that only great design can offer. It is the detailing which makes this range stand out from the crowd - we really love the bevelled trim details on the control panel, echoed in the leading edge of the pan support and the slightly daring angle used on the control knobs. Combined with the eclectic use of colour the result is a very distinctive and tactile range cooker of obvious high quality and with just the right amount of panache.

Design Excellence, and a Home Cook’s Dream

The Portofino takes a straightforward proposition - a single cavity 90cm range cooker - and enhances it with a host of well-considered features and high-quality touches that turn it into a very special focal point and highly competent cooking platform for the keen home chef. The cavernous 155 litre oven has an array of three fanned elements to ensure a consistent temperature and fast heat-up time, aided by the cool-touch quadruple-glazed door to provide enough insulation to give this stunning range an A+ rating, with the added benefit of being beautifully quiet-running. The inner glass is removable for easy cleaning, and the soft-close door action is a typically thoughtful added feature which makes the Portofino a delight to use. And to clean, too, as this amazing range also features pyrolytic cleaning, meaning that every now and then you run the cleaning cycle which locks the door and takes the temperature up to 500°C, burning off every trace of grime and bringing the oven interior up like new every time.

Smeg Portofino Detail

The Smeg designers have excelled themselves, with attention-to-detail which makes the Portofino something really rather special

Capable, Helpful and Highly Efficient

The clean and modern facia extends upwards from the squared-off edges of the stainless steel door handle (with its colour-matched insert) to the control panel with its large, professional-style control knobs beautifully formed from solid metal. The oven offers 12 fanned and non-fanned functions, including closed door fanned grilling and a rotisserie. Graphics are clearly displayed on an angled brushed steel heat deflector strip to give you a clear view of what is what, and the central panel has a large, clear and cool-looking LCD display offering 20 automatic programmes to make perfect cooking a breeze. There is even a visual and audio indicator to tell you when the oven has reached the desired temperature, which is set digitally using the main control knobs. One of the functions is an Eco mode which is great if you are just using a single shelf, keeping energy consumption to a minimum. There is an additional Low Power mode, a keep Warm mode and even a Sabbath mode for those who need it. The Portofino has a handy storage compartment below the oven, and comes with a cast iron wok support (dual fuel model), a pair of telescopic shelf runners, 2 standard shells, 2 extra deep trays, grill mesh protectors for the triple fan, and a rotisserie kit. Optional accessories include a fabulous full-width pizza stone.
