The Rangemaster brand famously the market leader when it comes to larger range cookers, but it seems Aga-Rangemaster have been turning their attentions to those consumers with smaller kitchens and more modest needs. A new Rangemaster 60cm cooker format looks like it could be the thing many UK cooks have been waiting for - a compact and attractive freestanding cooker with traditional values and that all-important Rangemaster badge.
The new Rangemaster 60cm mini-ranges are available in three established rangemaster styles, so there should be one to suit any kitchen, whether modern or traditional. The
Although varying in style, all models share the same specifications and come as all-gas or all-electric, with self-clean catalytic oven liners in both ovens, and energy-efficient air-washed double glazed doors. All models feature a dual circuit electric grill in the top cavity.
The all-gas models have two gas ovens, with a 2.2kW electric grill in the 17 litre top cavity and self-clean catalytic liners in both this and the main (non-programmable) 41 litre oven. Both ovens have a slow cook function - useful for stews, curries, rice puddings and meringues. The pleasant control facia features a digital clock and minute minder. On the hob you get four gas burners, with a usefully powerful 3.8kW main burner, two 1.75kW and a 1kW simmer burner. Flame safety devices are included, as is single-handed ignition using the control knob. A rather nice cast half-smooth griddle plate is also supplied. Gas models require only a 13 amp electrical socket, in addition to a normal gas supply (mains or LPG - a conversion kit is supplied).
All-electric models feature an A-rated 42 litre multifunction main oven, which is fully programmable and offers fan assisted baking or grilling, plus conventional heat from top and bottom elements and even a useful defrost setting. The versatility continues into the B-rated multifunction top cavity, which offers top and bottom conventional heat and a browning function, in addition to a second dual circuit electric grill. On top there is a lovely four burner radiant ceramic hob, each with six temperature settings. For these models you will need a 45 amp electrical connection.

to talk though your needs.Priced at £695* for both the gas or the electric models, we think these 60cm Rangemaster cookers will be very well received by the UK consumer. In particular there is a distinct lack of traditional-looking 60cm cookers on the market, so the Classic 60 and Kitchener 60 should both find a very receptive audience. The specs look good and although these products, unlike Rangemaster range cookers, are not made in the UK they do of course carry the usual Rangemaster 2 year parts and labour warranty, as do the matching hoods and splashbacks.
